Temari was reading a book by the lake. She was laughing softly at the funny part. When she heard a small sound her ears twitched. She carefully closed her book. Listening for the sound again. She sniffed the air. She smelled flowers though there weren't any flowers around. The small sound occurred again so she went towards it. The sound was coming from the same direction as the scent of flowers.

She found a small wolf pup tangled in a net. She growled, "Hunters." She didn't like the idea of hunters in her territory. She used her claw to free the pup from the net. When she went to pick the pup up the pup whimpered. Temari spoke softly trying to calm the pup.

When the pup still seemed upset Temari opened her book she began to read softly to the pup. The pup slowly approached her. When Temari stopped reading the pup barked softly. Temari smiled before she continued reading. The pup curled up beside Temari and fell asleep. Temari chuckled and decided to let the pup rest until the next day. She yawned and closed her book deciding  to take a nap as well.

The next morning Riu introduced herself. She told Temari she had gotten separated from her mother and sisters. She explained how the hunter had trapped her in the net and how he'd left to find his friends. Temari growled not happy they'd rested so close to the net. She picked up Riu and began to run. To get as far away from humans as possible. If she didn't have a pup to protect she wouldn't be as worried. When they got far enough away Temari set Riu down. She asked where Riu had seen her family last. Temari listened carefully as Riu explained. When the pup was finished talking Temari picked Riu up again.  They began to look for Riu's family. They stumbled upon footprints of humans.

Temari supposed they were the hunters' footprints. She sighed knowing if they continued walking in the direction they were they might run into the hunters' she knew they didn't have a choice though if they wanted to find Riu's family.
